For the Beef Filling:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (about 1 oz)
  • Water (as needed per seasoning packet instructions)

For the Tacos:

  • 8-10 small tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 2 cups lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 cup tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup salsa

For Serving (Optional):

  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges
  • Avocado or guacamole
  • Pickled jalapeños
  • Diced onion

Instructions

Step 1 — Prep Your Ingredients: Start by getting all your ingredients ready: ground beef, taco seasoning, tortillas, and your favorite toppings.

Step 2 — Brown the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it’s fully browned. Use a wooden spoon to crumble the meat, so it cooks evenly.

Step 3 — Season the Beef: After it’s browned, drain any extra grease. Then, stir in the taco seasoning as the package says, adding water if needed.

Step 4 — Simmer: Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes. This lets the flavors mix well together.

Step 5 — Warm the Tortillas: While the beef cooks, warm the tortillas in a pan or microwave. This makes the tacos taste better and feel softer.

Step 6 — Assemble: Put a spoonful of the beef on each tortilla. Then, add your favorite toppings like lettuce, cheese, and salsa.

Step 7 — Serve: Serve the tacos right away when everything is hot. Enjoy your homemade beef tacos!

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the meat — Cook your beef just until it’s browned. Overcooking makes it dry and tough.
  • Season adequately — Mix spices like cumin, paprika, and chili powder for a rich flavor.
  • Utilize fresh ingredients — Fresh veggies and toppings make your tacos lively and delicious.
  • Warm your tortillas — Soft, warm tortillas are the best base for your beef and toppings, improving the texture.
  • Taco assembly — Arrange your ingredients carefully, starting with the beef, then toppings for a balanced bite.
